Scion Launches Music(Less) Music Conference to Spur Thought and Discussion on the Future of the Music Industry

Forward-Thinking Automaker Brings Together Music Veterans and Emerging Talent to Discuss Industry Issues

TORRANCE, Calif., June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Scion's Music(Less) Music Conference will be held on June 17-18 at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel to bring together aspiring artists and industry luminaries for a two-day immersion of music fueled conversation. Top players in disparate musical genres will drive debates, panels and workshops as influential members of the music community provide up-and-coming artists with valuable industry insights and resources.

"Scion's goal is to continually support influential and emerging artists with the opportunities and resources that otherwise might be unavailable," says Jeri Yoshizu, Scion sales promotions manager. "Much like our audiovisual initiatives, we hope this conference will serve as a stepping stone for musicians to gain crucial industry experience and exposure while spotlighting industry insiders who don't often get mentioned alongside new talent."

Invited speakers will discuss artist development, independent labels, touring and digital distribution, while panel moderators such as Billboard's David Prince and reporter Eric Ducker lead discussions on the future of the industry.

Some of the debates and panels include the following:

-- Bloggers vs. A&Rs: The Smackdown
-- Integrity and Selling out in 2010
-- Event Promotion's Digital Future
-- Why is Now a Good Time to Get Involved in the Music Industry?
-- Do You Need a Manager?
-- Artists as Businesses
-- The State of Music Journalism
-- What is an Image Worth?
-- Beyond Record Stores: Digital Distribution Models of Music

For those unable to attend, the conference presentations will be filmed and will exist as digital resources on ScionAV.com as well as Scion's other official social media and video sharing sites.
