Rock 'n' Ride: Support USA Cares in First Annual 'Charity Cruise for Our Troops'

Kick off summer with hot rides, food and a Foreigner / Styx / Kansas concert while helping Michigan's military families

DETROIT, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- It wouldn't be summer in Michigan without cruises, cars and concerts. The National Defense Industrial Association's Michigan Chapter (NDIA Michigan) is giving you a chance to enjoy all three - while supporting active servicemen and women in Michigan through USA Cares - with its first annual "Charity Cruise for Our Troops" on Sunday, June 27.

Motorcycle and auto enthusiasts are invited to join the nonprofit organization at Pratt & Miller Engineering in New Hudson, Mich. (off I-96 between I-275 and US-23) at 2 p.m. for a car show featuring vintage cars, antique military vehicles, and of course, their own hot rods and cycles. A picnic lunch will be served and live music will be provided by 70s/80s rock band, Kaos.

From there, participants will cruise along a 50-mile scenic route to DTE Energy Music Theater in Clarkston for the Foreigner / Styx / Kansas concert, where secure parking will be available for participants.

Individual tickets to participate in the charity ride / cruise start at $50 and include a concert ticket, food, bandana and pin. To register for the ride or obtain sponsorship information, visit www.usa-cares.com or e-mail Larry Rink at Larry.Rink@amgeneral.com.

All proceeds from the event will benefit USA Cares, which provides financial and advocacy support to post-9/11 active duty military service personnel, veterans and their families. To date, USA Cares has assisted nearly 400 families, saved more than 30 homes and provided $163,000 in aid to deserving military families in Michigan.

The event is hosted by NDIA Michigan in cooperation with Defense Components of Detroit and Pratt & Miller Engineering.

The Michigan Chapter of NDIA was founded in 1918 and has more than 2,000 members from government, military and industry organizations. The chapter is involved in a myriad of different activities that support all branches of the armed forces, local, state and federal government and the corporate entities that support war fighters, first responders and patriotic Americans.
