Lighting Science Group Rocks the House of Blues Studio with Ultra-Efficient LED Lighting

First Studio to Install LED Lighting to Reduce Energy Cost and Heat

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla., June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The House of Blues Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee, known for recording hit records by superstar artists' Miley Cyrus, Rascal Flatts, Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), Kid Rock and 3 Doors Down, just became cooler--and more efficient--with the installation of LED lighting built in the USA by Lighting Science Group. The studio replaced their traditional light bulbs with Lighting Science Group's new DEFINITY LED bulbs that are 80% more efficient and give off 80% less heat.

"In the studio business, we are always looking for ways to save energy and Lighting Science Group's DEFINITY LED line was the perfect solution," said Mike Paragone, Studio Manager of the House of Blues. "Not only have we cut our lighting energy cost by close to 80%, we have also greatly reduced the studio's heat load, which was substantial before with the traditional bulbs and studio equipment. In fact, one artist recently told me to turn the thermostat up--that almost never happens!"

Unlike compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), the Lighting Science DEFINITY LED bulbs contain no mercury, are completely recyclable, offer outstanding light quality, and will last close to 9 years based on normal business operation of 16 hours a day, 365 days a year. To ensure performance and reliability, the DEFINITY LED line was tested under the rigorous LM-79 process by an independent laboratory approved by the U.S. Department of Energy's CALiPER program. Those test results show that the DEFINITY LED bulbs outperform competing products on the market.

"In a studio, maintenance means downtime and downtime means money, but with a bulb that last almost a decade we no longer need to worry about this problem," added Paragone. "We are very impressed with the output and quality of the installed DEFINITY bulbs and with an internal rate of return of 99% this was a no brainer."

"The DEFINITY LED line makes it easy for businesses to save green by buying green--without sacrificing lighting quality," said Zach Gibler, Chief Executive Officer of Lighting Science Group. "This is a great success story and I really appreciate the help of Ron Lusk, Lighting Science Group's former Chairman and CEO and founder of Lumetech, and Marc Harris, Managing Partner of Harcong, LLC, for helping put this deal together."

The DEFINITY line of LED light bulbs are being offered through lighting distributors and directly by Lighting Science Group with a starting suggested retail price of $20. To find your nearest sales location, go to: http://www.lsgc.com/contact-us/manufacturers-sales-representatives.
