Century South Point 16 Only Theater in the Country to Feature Two XD Cinemas

LAS VEGAS, June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Gaughan's South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa, at Las Vegas Boulevard and Silverado Ranch, is the new locals' favorite casino for movie experiences with it's Extreme Digital Cinema (XD) creating a premium viewing experience with picture, sound and luxury seating.

Michael Gaughan is not new to innovative movie ideas for his casinos. In 1986, he built the first casino movie theaters inside the Gold Coast. Twenty-four years later, he is again at the forefront of the industry, using Cinemark's XD technology, making South Point the only venue in the country to have two XD theaters on one property.

South Point opened its first XD theater in October 2009, premiering Michael Jackson's "This Is It," making it one of only eight theaters using Cinemark's XD technology. In May 2010, South Point added the second XD theater to in its 16-screen movie complex with the blockbuster "Iron Man 2." They are twin theaters, both with approximately 400 seats, premium projection equipment, wrap-around sound systems, premium seats, floor to ceiling, wall to wall screens and digital projection to show both 2D and 3D releases.

XD lets you get face to face with the action and experience in movies like never before using more than 30 speakers, 70 ft wide movie screens and digital images on screen that are as bright as 25 100-watt light bulbs. It is extra large entertainment for your senses. The maximum comfort entertainment environment ensures that every seat is an intense, savory experience.
