Meet the Press Launches New Set by Clickspring Design

Meet the Press Launches New Set by Clickspring Design

WASHINGTON, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- NBC's Meet the Press, the longest-running television show in worldwide broadcasting history, launched a new set designed by Clickspring Design on Sunday, May 2. Host David Gregory interviewed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the debut. Mr. Gregory assumed the role of host in December 2008. The weekly program has featured headline-making interviews with national and world leaders for 60 years, posing the tough questions on politics, economics, foreign policy, and other newsworthy issues. Meet the Press is the highest-rated of the American Sunday morning televised talk shows.

Clickspring principal, Erik Ulfers, was commissioned to create a new set that would reflect the 60-year history of one of America's most important public forums, while at the same time expressing the shows focus on urgent issues that require technological mastery. This is reflected in a visual statement that is a combination of library and lab. The bookshelves along the walls of the studio are lined with presidential papers, transcripts of important Meet the Press tapings, law volumes, autographed books and essays from guests and contributors from Al Franken to Nancy Reagan. The books reinforce the shows' tradition of research and historical relevance, and serve as a frame and foundation for the most advanced information technology available in a television studio. There are 14 monitors in the stand up area and an 85" plasma with touch screen interactivity that allow Mr. Gregory instant access to visual information, remote interviews, and filmed segments.

Clickspring designed the broadcast sets and newsroom for world headquarters of Meet the Press parent company, NBC, along with MSNBC in 2007. More recently Clickspring designed studios for NBC franchises in Philadelphia (WCAU) and Washington, DC (WRC).

Ulfers shares credit with Clickspring's Executive Producer Lori Nadler, and designers Bryan Higgason, Kevin Kievit, Paul Benson, and Tarrant Smith. The NBC team included creative director Marc Greenstein, Executive Producer Betsy Fischer, and Washington Bureau Chief Mark Whitaker.
