Lenny Kravitz, John Legend and Mos Def Headline Benefit Concert to Raise Funds for Wetland Recovery Efforts, Fisherman and their Families
NEW YORK, May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Fuse, Madison Square Garden's national music television network, today announced it will air "GULF AID: Concert for the Coast" on Saturday, May 22nd at 11pm ET/10pm CT. Shot in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi, the benefit concert featuring Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Mos Def and more, took place on Sunday May 16th at Mardi Gras World's scenic River City in New Orleans, in response to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill crisis and its impact on coastal communities in the surrounding area.
Airing exclusively on Fuse, the hour-long concert "GULF AID: Concert for the Coast" will feature world-renowned musicians that came together to help raise money to clean up the millions of gallons of oil that has spilled since the April 20th explosion off the coast of Louisiana. Grammy Award winning and multi-platinum recording artist, and part time New Orleans resident Lenny Kravitz, six-time Grammy Award winning John Legend, and artist, actor and activist Mos Def joined Ani DiFranco, Allen Toussaint, The Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band who all share the same concerns about how the recent developments in the Gulf will affect the lives of people in Louisiana and bordering Gulf states.
Available for download via iTunes, Rapper Mos Def and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band recorded "It Ain't My Fault" with Lenny Kravitz and New Orleans' Trombone Shorty. The benefit track is a remake of the New Orleans classic.
