CHICAGO, April 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will be in concert to support the United States Vietnam Arts Program (USVAP). The concert is on May 7th, 2010 at the Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago.

This concert supports USVAP and their expanded mission to provide "Artistic TOOLS®" to wounded service members from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Also, through this event, USVAP hopes to bring visibility to the power of art and how it might bring cathartic inner solace for those Americans who have sacrificed in service to their country. USVAP also provides opportunities for artists from the U.S. and Vietnam to work collaboratively on artistic projects particularly across cultural boundaries. Since 1998 USVAP has positively brought together new and existing audiences to discover or rediscover the cultural and artistic traditions of both the U.S. and Vietnam.

Gary and Vietnam Veteran Kimo Williams, co-founders of the Lt. Dan Band, both contribute to service members and their families through their performances with the USO around the world. However, beyond the twanging of their guitars, they also personally provide support in what ever way will make a difference in the lives of those who have been impacted by war, and those who are serving or have served our country.

Kimo founded USVAP in 1998 and Gary founded Operation Iraq Children (now called; Operation International Children) in 2005. During the May concert USVAP will present their 2010 Artistic TOOLS® to PFC Paul Plemmons.

Kimo met PFC Paul Plemmons at Brook Army Medical Center while Paul was recovering from injuries sustained during his deployment to Afghanistan. Paul mentioned to Kimo that he used to own a Gibson guitar and wished he could play again. Kimo remembered how important music was to him while he was in Vietnam in 1970 and immediately recommended Paul to the USVAP board and on May 7th Paul will receive a brand new Gibson Guitar during the concert.

In June 2010, USVAP and American Airlines will sponsor Kimo's ensemble, Kimotion in a concert in Saigon, Vietnam: Concert For Victims of Agent Orange.
