National Archives Marks Earth Day with Screening of Historic Guggenheim Film April 15

Marks 40th anniversary of Charles Guggenheim documentary H.R. 6161: An Act of Congress

WASHINGTON, March 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Thursday, April 15, at 7 p.m., in commemoration of Earth Day, the Charles Guggenheim Center for the Documentary Film at the National Archives presents a screening of Charles Guggenheim's 1979 documentary, H.R. 6161: An Act of Congress. This event is free and open to the public, and will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building.

Narrated by actor E. G. Marshall, the 58-minute film documents how a law is enacted by the United States Congress--in this instance, H.R. 6161, a bill to amend the Clean Air Act. The film follows the journey of one piece of legislation from conception through committee amendment and final passage.
