Ness Technologies Signs $19 Million Land Registry Deal for Czech Geodetic and Cadastral Office

Ness Technologies Signs $19 Million Land Registry Deal for Czech Geodetic and Cadastral Office

PRAGUE, February 1/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ness Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: NSTC and TASE: NSTC), a global provider of information technology solutions and services, announced today that it has been awarded, as part of a public tender, a contract for the development and testing of a large information system - a Registry of Territories, Addresses and Properties (RUIAN) - for the Czech Geodetic and Cadastral Office (CUZK). The system, which is valued at CZK 346.5 million, or about $19 million, is scheduled to go live in July 2011, at which time it will become one of the four primary registries in the Czech Republic: territorial identification, addresses and properties, persons, rights and obligations.

The primary goal of the registry is to ensure that all public administration authorities use - in their mutual communication - the same data about chosen territorial elements, which will come from a single reference source. In addition, the registry will manage data about all addresses of building sites assigned by municipalities, as well as some important technical attributes of the buildings. At present, there is no unique source of the most frequently used data in public administration. It is a goal of the Czech public administration's eGovernment policy to use existing government information in the most effective manner. The reference source will be also open to the public through the internet.

The project delivers a number of key benefits: - Substitution of duplicate and fragmented information systems of various public authorities; - Improvement of the quality of data used in public administration; - Mitigating the risk of using erroneous data through central data updates, and also through checking of reference data; - Better protection against unauthorized data manipulation - technical and operational measures; - Reducing the administrative and other costs associated with public administration; - Improvement of service quality; expansion of the service portfolio; - Shortening administrative processes; - Precise definition of public official's rights and their limitations; - Logging of all data manipulation by public officials; - Improved awareness of persons, consumers, entrepreneurs and public authorities; - Reducing administrative costs for businesses; and - Simplification of administrative procedures for the public.

"The system of registries - after its completion - will streamline our processes significantly, because public authorities will no longer need to tediously collate reference data from various sources," said Karel Stencel, Vice Chairman, CUZK. "This new approach will ensure that data is used for efficient public administration, and that citizens needing to interact with the public administration system will no longer need to provide the same data repeatedly. The data will be provided only once, captured in the primary registry and - through it - transferred to all the other information systems in public administration."

"Ness continues to build on and leverage its extensive know-how in land and property registration - and it has been a partner to the relevant Czech authorities for 13 years," said Mirko Kalous, Managing Director of Ness Czech. "Our success in this tender follows a similar recent success in Slovakia, demonstrating Ness' leading position in this segment in Central and Eastern Europe. Our portfolio of solutions and services for government has long been one of Ness' strengths, and the testimonials of our customers show that Ness generates significant added value for them. We are pleased to participate in yet another project to satisfy the needs of public administration authorities, enterprises and the public."
