National Veterans Foundation Releases Iwo Jima Battle Documentary for 65th Anniversary of Flag Raising

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Tuesday, February 23rd will be the 65th Anniversary of the raising of the American flag at the Battle of Iwo Jima. In honor of World War II Veterans and this important date, the National Veterans Foundation (NVF) announces the release of Semper Fi, an historical tribute to the courage, valor, and sacrifice of the U.S. heroes who turned the tide of World War II, and paved the way to victory.

This 20-minute mini documentary uses original battlefield footage shot by the U.S. Military to tell the story of the Iwo Jima battle, during which Marines sustained their heaviest casualties of the war.

The video can be seen in its entirety at www.iwojima65.org. Visitors to the website will receive a free copy of the DVD by making a donation of just 65 cents a day to the National Veterans Foundation.

Twenty-seven Marines and Sailors received the Congressional Medal of Honor for gallant conduct in the face of tremendous odds at Iwo Jima. The twenty-two Marines who received the honor represented more than one-quarter of all the Congressional Medals of Honor awarded Marines during World War II.
