Vera Jimenez Joins KTLA-TV5 News
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Vera Jimenez is joining KTLA-TV5 News as evening weather and traffic anchor, it was announced today by Don Corsini, President and General Manager. "I've known Vera since her early days at KABC," Corsini said. "She is a certified meteorologist and great asset for our team."

The award-winning Jimenez will join anchors Micah Ohlman and Victoria Recano on the KTLA5 News with weather and traffic at 6PM, 6:30PM and as 10PM weather anchor starting Monday, January 25. She brings certified expertise as a meteorologist and eight years local experience as traffic reporter covering traffic for KABC and KCBS.

Jimenez was born in Michoacan, Mexico and moved to Southern California when she was three. She attended Bolsa Grande High in Garden Grove, where most of her family lives. "I grew up here and watched KTLA News my whole life, so it is particularly gratifying to be reporting for KTLA5," she said.
Jimenez is a graduate of Cal State Long Beach with honors in Religious Studies. She began her career with Shadow Broadcasting, then landed a fill- in job doing traffic overnights at KFWB 980AM. Her next move was up -in the air as airborne traffic reporter at KNX 1070AM.
Vera broke into television at KABC where she worked as morning traffic reporter and feature news reporter. Next she went to KCBS, where she started filling in on the weather bringing her new found inspiration. She earned her meteorology certificate from Mississippi State University in August of 2009.
Jimenez is the recipient of two Emmy, three Golden Mics, and three Golden Pylons awards. She volunteers for the Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic program and ran the 2008 LA Marathon. She resides in Eagle Rock with her dog, Rana.
