The Lazio Region of Rome Presents the Creative and Production Excellence of 'Made in Italy - Made in Lazio' to New York Audiovisual Industry

Disney to be 'Industry Week' Honoree at RomaFictionFest 2010

NEW YORK, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- "The International Film Market," an initiative dedicated to promoting the production excellence and dynamic creative projects of the Lazio Region of Italy to the U.S. market, was held today at the Italian Cultural Center in New York City. Industry professionals, international distributors and media were presented with examples of the region's film projects, as well as details on the high standards and production value offered by the region. The project is a collaboration of the Lazio Region and Sviluppo Lazio, the Roberto Rossellini Foundation for the Audiovisual Field, the Regional Agency for Tourism in Rome and Lazio, and RAI.

It was announced today that this year's honoree at RomaFictionFest's Industry Week will be Disney. They will be present and honored at the RomaFictionFest 2010 in July and will discuss marketing opportunities in the U.S.

The project's presentation was part of the fourth edition of Rai Italian Fiction Week, during which RomaFictionFest 2010 will be presented and promoted. RomaFictionFest was created to support and showcase Italian fiction productions of the region. The RomaFictionFest serves as a meeting place for creative and economic dialogue between the region's producers and distributors.

"The projects we are promoting abroad are born from the need to organically increase the visibility of export competitiveness, an important economic sector of Lazio that we wish to support," said Claudio Mancini, Commissioner for the Economic Development, Research, Innovation and Tourism Region of Lazio. "It is in this we present and promote to the American market the Audiovisual business of Lazio, an industry that represents film productions, television productions, traditional and digital animation, fiction, publishing media, as well as a professionally driven craft that is highly valued internationally," he said.

To further strengthen the synergistic promotion of Rome and Lazio, a docufilm "Homage to Rome," by Franco Zeffirelli, was presented. This film was produced by the city of Rome in collaboration with the Regional Agency for Tourism Promotion in Rome and Lazio. Inserted into the prestigious showcase promoted by Rai Fiction, this movie will impress upon American audiences the extraordinary beauty of the city and region of Rome. Beyond the symbolic places such as St. Peter and the Colosseum, the movie will also present images of the waterfalls of Monte Gelato, near Rome, and the Villa Gregoriana in Tivoli.

During the exhibition, as a sideline to the main presentation, there will be scheduled meetings with major U.S. broadcasting operators to develop proposals and rules of operation for airing the documentary on their television circuit.
