Vuclip to Distribute CCTV Content Through Global Mobile Video Solution

CCTV Looks To Mobile Platform To Extend Chinese Media Reach Across the Globe, Provide Contact for Expats Wherever They May Be

MILPITAS, Calif., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Vuclip, a pioneer in mobile video search that enables mobile video distribution to users anywhere in the world, today announced that China Central Television has selected the company to power CCTV's smartphone applications and distribute CCTV content through these applications on a global basis.

CCTV is the largest television broadcaster in China, accessible to more than 1 billion viewers in China alone. CCTV's content is a mixture of news, documentary, comedy, entertainment and drama.

Vuclip has launched the CCTV iPhone application where it is available globally through the iPhone App Store. The application was #1 in the China iPhone App store within three days of launch. Additionally, Vuclip will offer an Android application for CCTV that will be available on that platform before year's end. These applications are currently the only way for Chinese content from CCTV to reach a worldwide base of mobile consumers.

"CCTV recognizes that the smartphone platform offers an unprecedented opportunity to gain global deployment and reach Chinese nationals who may no longer be on the mainland but are still very interested in staying plugged in to Chinese news and culture," said Xinhui Niu, President and co-founder of Vuclip. "We look forward to being a valuable partner in helping CCTV reach a global audience."

Vuclip is in active discussions with carriers and handset manufacturers to distribute the CCTV applications across a broad spectrum of the mobile landscape, including on-deck carrier promotions and pre-embed agreements with the handset manufacturers.

"Our current mobile video platform enables Vuclip to seamlessly deliver content to mobile users around the globe," said Nickhil Jakatdar, CEO of Vuclip. "As iPhone and Android devices gain ground both in China and around the world, our video partnership with CCTV will ensure that CCTV achieves great reach across the entire mobile landscape."

Vuclip currently delivers millions of videos every month to users in more than 150 countries around the world, including the United States, India and China, through a proprietary platform which enables video to play on any phone with a mobile browser and native media player, as well as through native applications. The company also works with numerous content partners around the globe to deliver premium, targeted content to consumers that is monetized through Vuclip's proprietary dynamic ad stitching technology.
