Rachmaninoff Returns To Carnegie Hall...

Zenph® Studios & Sony Masterworks Present Rachmaninoff Plays Rachmaninoff Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, November 6, 2009 at 7:30 pm Re-Performance® Celebrates 100th Anniversary Of Sergei Rachmaninoff's First Recitals In U.S.

NEW YORK, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- On November 6, 2009, a century after his first recitals in the U.S., legendary composer and pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff will once again grace Carnegie Hall. Zenph Studios presents a live recital, Rachmaninoff Plays Rachmaninoff. Experiencing a Zenph's re-performance is akin to hearing firsthand a musician you've loved and enjoyed your entire life.

This recital features works originally recorded by Rachmaninoff from 1921 to 1942, now re-performed on an instrument the artist likely played during his lifetime, a 1909 nine-foot Steinway D grand piano. Technically and artistically sophisticated, Zenph's revolutionary technology lets the listener hear Rachmaninoff perform again for them in the room. This unique live experience reveals the composer's genius as an architect and pianist of profound musical moments. His splendid rhythmic drive, deliberate touch, incredible strength and organic sense for dynamics are present in the new recordings and will be on display on stage.

Also present in Sony Masterwork's new recording, Rachmaninoff Plays Rachmaninoff, the November 6th program includes Rachmaninoff performing five of his own compositions: the Prelude in C-sharp minor, the Etudes Tableaux in C Major and E-flat Major, Op. 33, "Daisies" and Moment Musical in E-flat minor, Op. 16. Additionally, the artist's transcriptions of Kreisler's "Liebesleid and Liebesfreud," Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee," Mendelssohn's scherzo from A Midsummer Night's Dream, Tchaikovsky's "Lullaby," and Bach's Violin Partita No. 3 will be performed.

Rachmaninoff had but two professional piano students: Ruth Slenczynska and Gina Bachauer. Ruth is still an active pianist and teacher in New York, and plans to speak and play during the recital, with some of her memories of "Mr. Rachmaninoff." Additional speakers include president and co-founder of Zenph studios Dr. John Q. Walker, leader of music production projects at Zenph Studios Dr. Anatoly Larkin and electronics engineer Richard Sheppard.
