Verizon FiOS TV Offers 'Freeview' of Spanish Language Package
Free One-Week Preview Includes 27 Spanish Language Channels; Supports Broadcast Premiere of CNN's 'Latino in America'
NEW YORK, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- As a salute to Spanish Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15), Verizon is offering FiOS TV customers free access to the Spanish Language Package, which includes popular channels like Toon Disney Espanol, Galavision and CNN en Espanol.
From Oct. 19-25, this "freeview" of Verizon's Spanish Language Package will enable current FiOS TV customers to sample a wide variety of programming in Spanish. The package, which is normally available for $11.99 per month with a subscription to FiOS TV Essentials or FiOS TV Extreme HD, includes 27 news, sports and entertainment channels from several Spanish-speaking countries.
"Verizon offers some of the best international channels to our multicultural customers, helping them keep current on news and events in their native country," said Shruti Joshi, executive director of multicultural marketing for Verizon. "The Spanish Language Package is a good addition for families who want more TV programming in their native language. And by adding Internet or phone service, or both, to the TV service, Verizon connects customers on all fronts, at a great price."
During the "freeview," Verizon FiOS TV customers will also have the opportunity to view CNN's two-part documentary series, "CNN Presents: Latino in America," which will premiere on Oct. 21 and 22 at 9 p.m. Eastern time. It will be simulcast on CNN en Espanol as "Ser Latino en EE.UU." Reported by anchor and special correspondent Soledad O'Brien, the documentary initiative examines the growing diversity of America. On CNN en Espanol, senior anchor Patricia Janiot and network correspondents report daily on important issues like education, immigration, health care, business, religion and other key issues of the Latino community, with prime time half-hour specials each night during the week of the documentaries.
Verizon FiOS TV customers can also subscribe to La Conexion, which offers a robust selection of more than 120 channels in English and Spanish, for $39.99 per month.
