Audience Asked To Bring A Donation Of Canned Food To Benefit Hawaii Foodbank
HONOLULU, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of Hawai'i's native son, President Barack Obama, HBO, Oceanic Time Warner Cable and the City & County of Honolulu will present a free, public screening of the HBO Documentary Film BY THE PEOPLE: THE ELECTION OF BARACK OBAMA at The Waikiki Shell on Thursday, October 29, 2009. Doors will open at 5:30pm. The premiere is one of nine exclusive advance screenings taking place across the country.
BY THE PEOPLE is a unique exclusive, behind-the-scenes inside story of the Obama campaign, focusing on the candidate, family members, and staffers and voters who helped turn an unlikely American dream into reality. The film includes footage shot in Honolulu and interviews with several Hawaii residents, including, Congressman Neil Abercrombie, Bobby Titcomb and the President's sister and brother-in-law, Drs. Maya Soetoro-Ng and Konrad Ng.
Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann said, "The people of Hawaii are very proud that a native son of the islands, a keiki o ka aina, is leading our country. The Honolulu premiere includes a private VIP reception in the pool area of the Shell, reserved seating for Oceanic customers, community groups and sweepstakes winners in the seated section and free, open seating in the lawn section. Doors open at 5:30pm with live entertainment from Willie K beginning at 6:00pm. The screening begins at 7:00pm.
Oceanic subscribers may RSVP for preferred seating on a first come, first served basis at www.homeboxoffice.com/rsvp/oceanic. Lawn seating is open to the general public; no RSVP is required. Information available at 1-888-560-5856. All guests are asked to bring a canned food donation to benefit the Hawaii Foodbank. Large bins will be placed at each entrance to the Shell.
