One Hanson Place in Brooklyn Inks Deal With Skylight Group to Transform Historic Ground Floor Banking Space Into High-End Event Venue

VH1/MTV to stage first event tonight with Divas Live and the Hip Hop Honors Brooklyn, N.Y.

NEW YORK, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Tonight, VH1/MTV will inaugurate the new special event space located in One Hanson Place in the Fort Green neighborhood of Brooklyn. The multi-level venue, named "Skylight One Hanson," is on the ground level of the premier residential mixed-use development and the former landmark Williamsburg Savings Bank Building. Skylight One Hanson is managed by the Skylight Group, a Manhattan-based event firm known for creating high-end events at premier venues in New York City. This is Skylight's first venue space in Brooklyn.

Deemed a historic landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, One Hanson's bank hall has remained unaltered through the redevelopment process and will serve as the main event space for Skylight Group. The venue features original details including intricate marble floors, carved teller stations and an impressive 40-foot mosaic of New York as a Dutch colony. The 15,000 square foot main level also boasts a vaulted 63-foot ceiling with images of the zodiac in the night sky.

"Re-characterizing the main floor of One Hanson as an event venue will enable us to maintain the historical integrity of this breathtaking space while at the same time breathing new life into this irreplaceable asset," said Steven Rutter, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Stribling Marketing Associates. The event space, which can accommodate up to 1,500 for cocktails and 500 for dinner, has recently been enhanced to cater to high-end events. A newly-installed custom-designed audio system by L & M Sound, the same company that serves the New York Philharmonic, maximizes the venue's acoustics. State-of-the art lighting accentuates the beauty of the space and can be designed to fit the needs of the specific event. The landmark space will be used for many kinds of events, including fashion shows, product launches, weddings and other corporate, non-profit and social events.

To correspond with the opening of the event space, the Skylight Group has secured its first client - VH1/MTV in conjunction with the Brooklyn Academy of Music - which will host Divas Live and the Hip Hop Honors tonight to benefit the Save the Music Foundation, an organization dedicated to re-establishing music programs in America's public schools. The two events will honor such notables as Jay-Z, Chris Rock, Eminem and Jennifer Hudson.
