ROANOKE, Va., Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Business, Cox Media and Bloomberg Television are working in conjunction with the Roanoke Regional Small Business Development Center, Better Business Bureau and Blue Ridge Business Journal to host a forum entitled "Small Business: Flourishing in Tough Economic Times." The forum will be held on Friday, September 18 at The Taubman Museum of Art located at 110 Salem Avenue, Roanoke, and will begin at 8:00 a.m.

"Small Business: Flourishing in Tough Economic Times" will feature guest speaker Jane Applegate, an award-winning columnist on small business management and the author of four books about small business management, including 201 Great Ideas for Your Small Business. Applegate is known for her comparison of business owners to plate spinners in a circus: as soon as one plate is spinning in the air, another crashes to the floor.

"This forum is a 'must attend' for small businesses owners. Through a unique partnership with the Roanoke Regional Chamber's Small Business Development Center and Better Business Bureau, Cox and Bloomberg Television are sponsoring this forum in order to help business owners in the region learn management strategies from a nationally acclaimed business expert," said Sam Hampton of Cox Business in Roanoke. "I truly believe that this forum will answer a host of questions that organizations large and small encounter as they do business."

"Having the chance to partner with Bloomberg and Cox on this event will help our members as they deal with the current economic downtown and the challenges they face in the business environments," said Joyce Waugh, President of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Interested parties may RSVP to Lisa Scott at the Better Business Bureau; (540) 342-3455, ext 3006. For more information, contact Felicia Blow at 540-777-7390 or felicia.blow@cox.com.
