Nickelodeon's iCarly Ranks as Week's Top Kids' Program on All of TV With 7.6 Million Total Viewers
"iThink They Kissed" Scores Clean Sweep across Kid, Tween Demos for Week; Ranks as Top Series Telecast on Basic Cable iCarly Helms Nick's First Place Finish among Basic Cable Nets for Week
NEW YORK, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Nickelodeon's iCarly "iThink They Kissed" (Saturday, Sept. 12, 8 p.m. ET/PT) ranked as the top-rated kids' program on all of television for the week (9/7/09-9/13/09), drawing 7.6 million viewers (P2+), according to Nielsen Media Research. The half-hour episode scored a clean sweep among all kid demographics, averaging a 10.9/3.8 million K2-11 (+252%), a 14.9/3.2 million K6-11, (+303%) and a 14.2/3.1 million T9-14 (+344%).
"iThink They Kissed" also ranked as basic cable's number-one series telecast for the week with total viewers and the number-two entertainment program overall, behind only MTV's 2009 Video Music Awards. iCarly is the number-one series among kids 2-11 and 6-11 for year to date and ranks as the top kids' show with total viewers on ad-supported cable (source: NMR, Live +7 Day from 12/29/09; Live + Same Day from 8/31/09-9/13/09).
Posting triple-digit gains over last year with every kid and total viewer demographic, and against all direct programming competition, "iThink They Kissed" helped fuel a winning week for Nickelodeon. Nick was the top-ranked basic cable network in total day with kids, tweens and total viewers, drawing 2.2 million persons 2+ (source: NMR, 9/7/09 - 9/13/09, Live + Same Day). For the week, Nickelodeon drew nine out of the top ten kid-targeted telecasts (iCarly, SpongeBob SquarePants and The Penguins of Madagascar) with total viewers.
In "iThink They Kissed," Carly (Cosgrove) discovers that Sam (Jennette McCurdy) is actually afraid of something -- visiting the dentist. So Carly accompanies Sam to her appointment, and while Sam is under the influence of laughing gas, she accidentally reveals to Carly that she and Freddie (Nathan Kress) shared a secret kiss. Carly is crushed that her best friends have been keeping secrets from her and finally decides to confront them about why they never told her.
