26 New Episodes Of The Emmy(R) Award-Winning Animated Comedy Series Confirmed To Run On COMEDY CENTRAL In Mid-2010
NEW YORK, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Greetings, Earthlings! The Emmy Award -winning animated series "Futurama" has landed at COMEDY CENTRAL and now it's time for the ultimate blast-off! Tune in for the out-of-this-world hilarious World Television Premiere of "Into the Wild Green Yonder," scheduled to debut as a four-part epic on Sunday, August 30, beginning at 9:00 p.m.
Sit back and buckle up for a ride into the future to battle evil and restore universal peace. In this brand-new "Futurama" epic adventure, Leela teams up with an environmentally aware feminist group to save an asteroid filled with primitive life forms. While Leela is busy saving single-celled organisms, Fry, as per usual, joins a tin-foil-wearing secret society and attempts to thwart a mysterious species from destroying all life in the universe.
"Futurama" focuses on the life of Philip Fry (Billy West), a 25-year-old pizza delivery boy who accidentally freezes himself on December 31, 1999 and wakes up 1,000 years later with a fresh start at life - and a "diverse" new group of friends including Turanga Leela (Katey Sagal), a tough, but lovely one-eyed alien, and Bender (John DiMaggio), a robot who possesses human characteristics and flaws. The show also features guest stars such as Sarah Silverman, Hank Azaria, Bob Odenkirk, Pamela Anderson, Beatrice Arthur, Lucy Liu, Beck and Coolio.
"Futurama" aired on Fox from 1999 to 2003 and the series consists of 72 episodes. It was nominated five years in-a-row and won three Emmys, including the award for "Outstanding Animated Program" in 2002. All-new episodes of "Futurama" will appear on COMEDY CENTRAL in mid-2010.
"Futurama" is produced and distributed by 20th Century Fox Television. The show is created and executive produced by Matt Groening with co-executive producers David X. Cohen, Ken Keeler and Eric Horsted.
