D.C. Mayor, Key City Leaders to Join Verizon on Sept. 1 to Kick Off All-Fiber-Optic Network Upgrade in the Nation's Capital
New All-Fiber Network Will Bring FiOS TV, More Cable Choice to the District By Year's End
WASHINGTON, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty and key city leaders will join company officials on Tuesday (Sept. 1) to celebrate the official launch of Verizon's network upgrade to all fiber optics. This all-fiber network will deliver Verizon's FiOS TV and FiOS Internet services in parts of the District, starting later this year.
Verizon's construction teams are working in the Southeast quadrant of the District, placing the hair-thin fiber-optic strands that will connect residents and businesses directly to the latest, and best, in broadband communications and entertainment services. Verizon has committed to make FiOS TV available throughout the District over the next nine years.
