Promising Filmmakers Vie for Awards at Comic-Con International-Independent Film Festival
SAN DIEGO, July 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Comic-Con International-Independent Film Festival (CCI-IFF) has announced its official selections for films to compete in the juried event which will be held in conjunction with the largest comic book and pop culture event in the United States: the San Diego Comic-Con (Comic-Con) from July 23-26, 2009.

Beth Accomando, president of the San Diego Film Critics Society; Mark A. Altman, writer/producer of the hit ABC television show Castle; and Marc Bernardin, editor for Entertainment Weekly magazine serve as judges for films in competition. The films have no current distribution deals in place.
"Comic-Con is the meeting place for talent from a variety of popular arts fields," commented David Glanzer, spokesperson for the non-profit event, "and we're excited to see such talented filmmakers in competition this year."
Films will compete in seven categories: Action/Adventure, Animation, Comics-Oriented, Documentary, Horror/Suspense, Humor/Parody and Science Fiction/Fantasy. This year 64 features, shorts and documentaries will screen as part of the four-day event. Schedules permitting, many films will include a member of the production company on hand to discuss their project and answer questions from the audience.
