The Alps Meet the Rockies at Breckenridge's Annual Oktoberfest

The Alps Meet the Rockies at Breckenridge's Annual Oktoberfest

Changing Leaves, Music, Lodging Packages, Collectible Steins and Beer Celebrate Fall

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Autumn is one of the most beautiful times of year in Colorado, and what better way to catch a glimpse of the season than head to the high country to view the changing colors of the leaves and celebrate the largest Oktoberfest in the Rocky Mountains.

The town's 15th annual Oktoberfest, September 18-20, 2009, includes a fun-filled weekend full of fall foliage, great parties, Paulaner Bier, genuine German cuisine and special accommodation packages. The quaint town of Breckenridge brings the feel of the Alps to the Rockies with an authentic Oktoberfest celebration in a charming mountain setting.

In true Bavarian spirit, the Brewmaster's Dinner on Friday evening kicks off the weekend's festivities. This mouth-watering event at the Salt Creek Steakhouse, hosted by Paulaner Bier, features a six course gourmet German dinner, pairing a European bier with each selection. The evening begins with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $65 each or $120 per couple.

Munich meets Breckenridge on Saturday and Sunday when Main Street closes and comes to life as a street party with traditional costumes, German food, Oompah and polka music, Bavarian dancers, children's activities, a keg-tapping ceremony, 5k run and, of course, beer.

The festival will feature an Oktoberfest favorite, Paulaner Bier, as its presenting sponsor. Paulaner serves more beer per day at Breckenridge's Oktoberfest than at any other Oktoberfest in Colorado. Authentic German brews are served in commemorative Breckenridge steins manufactured and shipped directly from Munich, Germany. The Breckenridge Brewery will also be on hand serving their favorite fall beers and wine.

Oktoberfest Lodging Package: Groups of four can take advantage of a special Oktoberfest package starting at $90 per person per night. Package includes two nights of lodging, tickets to the Brewmaster's Dinner, beer vouchers and a reserved commemorative beer stein. Package offered September 17-21, 2009.

Fall Leaf Viewing Package: Groups of four can stay in Breckenridge for four nights, go on a two hour ATV tour to view the colors of the Ten Mile Range, ride through the fall foliage during a 1.5 hour horseback ride, hear leaves crunching under your tires on a bike ride down Vail Pass and pick up a town trail map to hike through Breckenridge's yellow aspen groves. The price is only $79 per person per night, $315 total per person. Package offered August 30-October 31, 2009.
