- Poker Player and Performer Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott Gives his Best Simon Cowell Impression as he Awards Dirty Wish the Hull Talent Trail 2009 Title
Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott has crowned rock band Dirty Wish the Hull Daily Mail's Talent Trail 2009 champions after the Sproatley five-piece act wowed the packed crowd at Hull City Hall last week with a series of classic rock anthems including Stereophonics Dakota, Maggie May, by Rod Stewart, and Free's Alright Now.
The band, which has only been together for one year, won GBP1,500 and a trophy at the DevilfishPoker.com sponsored event.
Ulliott, who saw many of the acts over the qualification rounds and presented the prizes at the final, said, "The level of talent at the show was fantastic and all the acts had something to offer but in the end Dirty Wish had it all. The crowd was electrified and their performance was flawless so they were deserved winners and congratulations to them. I might just see if they're available for the support slot on my next tour!"
DevilfishPoker.com sponsored the Hull Daily Mail's annual Talent Trail 2009 competition which saw hundreds of hopeful performers shoot for the stars from all across Yorkshire, England.
Over two months Talent Trail saw singers, dancers, musicians, and comedians battle it out through 16 heats and a semi-final before concluding at a packed Hull City Hall earlier this week.
The money raised through the competition will go to The Echoes Foundation set up by Claire Stockton, whose son Finlay has an undiagnosed brain disorder. She aims to raise enough money to open a one-stop centre for children with special needs.
