Ginger Zee, Recipient of Community Service Award

CHICAGO, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Brain Injury Association of Illinois has announced that Ginger Zee, Meteorologist for NBC5 Chicago, is the recipient of the 2009 "Lesbeth Davis Community Service Award". The presentation will take place on Friday, May 15, 2009 at the organization's Arts Showcase event, "A Date with Carmen". The awards ceremony, reception and buffet will be held at The Gage followed by a performance of the Chicago Opera Theater's "La Tragedie de Carmen" at the Harris Theater.

This award is given in memory of Lesbeth Davis, RN, a long time volunteer of the Brain Injury Association of Illinois, who selflessly devoted much of her personal and professional life to raising community awareness of issues related to acquired brain injury.

Ginger Zee, Meteorologist for NBC5, will receive this award for her outstanding support of the mission and goals of the Brain Injury Association of Illinois and for her work on the video project entitled, "You Are Not Alone". This video was produced for distribution in hospitals, not only in Illinois, but nationwide, to give much needed information to families on what to expect after a brain injury. In addition to her duties as Meteorologist, Ginger also serves as NBC5's Green Is Universal environmental reporter. Her commitment to her community, on many levels, is exemplary and it is a privilege to honor her with this award.

The Brain Injury Association of Illinois is a statewide, non-profit organization dedicated to providing programs and services to persons with brain injury, their families and to professionals and the community-at-large.
