Bipartisan Policy Center Presents First Annual Leaders Award to MPAA's Dan Glickman and Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack

Honorees will headline opening night of the inaugural Politics on Film festival

WASHINGTON, May 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) announced today it will present the first annual Leaders Award to Dan Glickman, Chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. (MPAA) and Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (R-CA). The award will be presented at this evening's Opening Night Party of the Politics on Film festival, which will be hosted by Mrs. Mary Margaret Valenti. The festival takes place this weekend, May 7 to 10, 2009, in Washington, D.C. at the following locations: E Street Cinema, George Washington University's Marvin Amphitheatre and Navy Memorial Auditorium.

The Bipartisan Policy Center Leaders Award recognizes persons who have displayed an outstanding commitment to strengthening the concentric circles of entertainment and politics. The award honors members of the policy and film communities who embody the spirit of the unique relationship between film, politics, and government, and acknowledge the importance of civility in our nation's political discourse.

Glickman became Chairman and CEO of the MPAA in September 2004. Previously he was the Director of the Institute of Politics located at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. Prior to that he served as Agriculture Secretary from 1995 to 2001. From 1977 to 1995, he served as a Congressman from Kansas.

Congresswoman Bono Mack was elected to California's 45th District in 1998 through a special election to fill the seat of her late husband, the Honorable Sonny Bono. During her time in Congress, she has led efforts to improve health care, protect the environment, strengthen the economy and protect consumers.
