Beverly Hills Filmmaker Catapults to Cannes With His Film 'THE EVOLUTION OF ETHAN BASKIN' to Premiere at the Cannes Short Film Corner

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Beverly Hills filmmaker Josh Monkarsh's THE EVOLUTION OF ETHAN BASKIN will be screened at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival - Short Film Corner from May 14-24, 2009. It will be the first film of Monkarsh's to be screened at Cannes. Josh could not hide his surprise: "Cannes is amazing news. It is such an honor to be part of the biggest film festival in the world and to have my film be in the same presence as Francis Ford Coppola's latest work of art!"

THE EVOLUTION OF ETHAN BASKIN is Josh's fourth short film. Prior to this, the Beverly Hills-born filmmaker has received acclaim for his short film SUBWAY CAFE (2005), and his feature film THE HIGHLIFE (2002).

THE EVOLUTION OF ETHAN BASKIN is an idealistic film that draws more from the Orwell side of science fiction, howling against the dehumanization of modern society. The film presents a futuristic scenario in which all humans are numbered, drugged and monitored. Jason London plays the role of Ethan Baskin: a doctor who becomes emotionally confined to his apartment due to the loss of his late wife Stella.
