A New Era In Advertising: Internet Radio

A New Era In Advertising: Internet Radio

PHILADELPHIA, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- For years companies advertised on radio, television and in print. Why? These were the main ways of reaching potential customers who might consume their products. But with the advent of devices like TiVo, people are skipping commercials and companies are now so desperate they are using product placement in movies and even on daytime television shows like CBS's the Bold & the Beautiful. Recently V-8 and Macy's were featured on the popular soap. Even print publications like the New York Times and People Magazine are now available to readers on the World Wide Web and placing ads on these online e-zine sites can be very costly. But now there is a new way for advertisers to reach consumers inexpensively: Internet Radio.

Jacqueline Foreman who has been hosting her Internet radio show Your Mental Health Talk Radio for almost 18 months is one of the highest rated shows on blogtalkradio.com. Her station can be found at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/yourmentalhealth

Recently, she hired a seasoned sales executive, Lori Houston, to assist her with ad sales for the top rated show which has more than 500,000 listeners per episode. "The best thing about airing a commercial on my show," says Foreman, "is that all shows are permanently archived so every time someone listens to that show, your commercial or sponsorship remains. With traditional radio, your ad plays once and then it is gone, even if the show is re-aired. It is not only an inexpensive option, but a great way of reaching a massive amount of people."

Your Mental Health has applied for its 501(c) 3 non-profit status which should be received within the next six weeks. Foreman does not take a salary from the show but uses advertising dollars to help organizations like NAMI and the National Suicide Prevention Hot Lineelp LiLiL. She also wants to build a better, interactive website for her listeners to go to so they can connect 24/7 and create an online newsletter to send to subscribers at no charge with information and articles written by experts in the fields of mental health and health in general. Additionally, she wants to purchase air time for her show in different markets and re-air the 100+ interviews she has already conducted with celebrities and many New York Times best-selling authors.

Past advertisers have included Verizon, DirecTV, Lucinda Bassett's Center for Anxiety, BP Magazine, Esperanza Magazine, Dish Network and many others. "Advertisers don't have to be in the mental health field to gain our listeners as potential customers. Some of our listeners can't leave the house due to depression, anxiety or even agoraphobia so they do a lot of television watching, Internet surfing and even attend classes and shop online. So advertisers like amazon.com, Wal-Mart, On-line Universities and schools and other online retailers could really reach a substantial number of people for far less than a regular radio or print ad."

Commercial on Your Mental Health Talk Radio can be: 30 seconds or 60 seconds and sponsorships are also available. Don't have a radio

ad? Not to worry, Foreman has access to over 100,000 voiceover artists, both male and female. You write the script and for a nominal fee, your commercial will be created for you and once it is approved it begins airing immediately.
