Take Part in a Talent Competition and Vie for a Chance to Get A Free Week at the Camp of Your Choice

MIQUON, Pa. April 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania (GSEP) is holding an Open House event this Sunday, May 3 at their Wood Haven campsite in Pine Grove, Pa., at the foot of the Blue Mountain in Schuylkill County. The time is 1 to 4 p.m. Families of all girls ages 6 to 18 are welcome to attend, talk to camp staff, tour the facility, and see why GSEP's summer camp is fun and economical. GSEP camps and camp programs are designed to give girls a meaningful link with nature, friends, and caring adults. The outcome is a fun-filled leadership development experience they can draw upon for life, while making life-long friendships.

Camp Wood Haven, located on 200 acres of land, features a horseback riding program, and also offers a pool for swimming, a low ropes course and a climbing wall for adventure programs as well as a large sports field for archery, games, stargazing, and sleeping out. Boating is done at Sweet Arrow Lake located 5 miles from camp.

As an added element to this Open House event, you can be part of a LIVE musical talent competition entitled Camp Jam, where girls will vie for the chance to be selected as one of three semi-finalists who will advance to a final Camp Jam at our Open House at Camp Laughing Waters on Sunday, June 7th. The winner will get a FREE week at the GSEP camp of their choice!

The contestants include: Haley Beaton (6th grade at Governor Mifflin), of Reading; Arianna Boccardi (4th grade at St. Michael), of Quakertown; Emily Engler (4th grade at Asa Packer Elementary School), of Bethlehem; Holly Esser (6th grade at Governor Mifflin), of Mohnton; Caitlyn Grosse (4th grade), of West Chester; sisters Emma (4th grade at Starkweather) and Hannah (8th grade at Stetson Middle School), of West Chester; Peyton Maristch (5th grade at Collegium CS), of West Chester; Olivia Schwartz (5th grade at Hillsdaye Elementary School), of West Chester; and sisters Emily (1st grade at Octorora Primary Learning Center) and Olivia (4th grade at Octarora Elementary), of Cochranville. They will be singing and dancing on stage in Smith Lodge from 1:30 to 3:30 during the event.

The judges are:

Ashley Wutke, a senior Theatre major at Kutztown University, who has been in numerous theatre and musical events.

Caitlin Bement, a senior Music Education major/Musical Theatre minor also at Kutztown, who has performed widely.

Nicholas McCartney, a current employee of Disney and a junior Theatre major/Musical Theatre minor at Kutztown University.

Samantha Paine, a junior Theatre major/Musical Theatre minor at Kutztown University, who has performed widely.

Radio Disney AM640 will be on hand with music and a fabulous prize wheel. All girls 14 and under who attend the Camp Jam event will have the opportunity to register to win four (4) tickets to Disney's The Little Mermaid, a Broadway Musical, and dinner at a New York City restaurant. The drawing for the tickets and dinner will be at the final Camp Jam event on June 7th.
