Comcast Cares Day Volunteers Pitch in at 50+ Community Sites Across New England on Annual Day of Service

More Than 4,300 New England Volunteers Join More Than 50,000 Nationwide On Eighth Annual Comcast Cares Day

BOSTON, April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the eighth annual Comcast Cares Day, one of the largest single-day corporate volunteer efforts in the country, local Comcast employees and their family members and friends today volunteered at dozens of community sites across New England, providing spring cleaning, painting, landscaping and other services to local cities and towns and nonprofit organizations.

In all, more than 4,300 Comcast Cares Day volunteers spent the day working at more than 50 sites in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine, continuing Comcast's tradition of using not only its products and services, but also its local workforce to power the dreams of local communities.

"Comcast Cares Day is an event I look forward to every year," said Kevin Casey, President of Comcast's NorthCentral Division. "It is truly a moving experience to work with thousands of our employees as they give up their free time on a Saturday to help neighbors and their communities. This year more than ever, our help is needed, and we are honored to do what we can to help each other."

Nationwide, more than 50,000 Comcast volunteers will participate in Comcast Cares Day, the company's annual day of service and one of the largest single-day corporate volunteer efforts in the country. Comcast Cares Day is one way that Comcast demonstrates its year-round commitment to making a difference in the communities it serves. The company also provides complimentary video and high-speed Internet services to schools and libraries in the communities it serves and is a stalwart supporter of local nonprofits.

Since the first Comcast Cares Day took place in 2001, more than 170,000 Comcast volunteers have contributed over one million hours of service at more than 1,750 project sites in local communities throughout the country. Today, volunteers are expected to donate another 300,000 hours of service, bringing the total service hours during all Comcast Cares Days to more than 1.3 million.

The Comcast Foundation has contributed grants totaling more than $6.6 million to local community partner organizations since the inception of the company's annual day of service. This year, it will once again donate significant grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of each employee and family member who volunteers on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast's community partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year and help power the dreams of neighborhoods nationwide.
