Idol Bracketology: Former Neighbors Launch MyIdolPicks.com Bracket Contest

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Like many next-door neighbors in America, the Lenios and Grothauses used to get together to watch American Idol and then try to predict the winners and losers. Then last fall, a job opportunity took the Grothause family west from Grand Rapids, Mich. to San Diego.

Rather than break tradition, they decided to take it online. Now, the couples and a few co-workers have teamed up to create an online website - www.myidolpicks.com - where anyone in North America can select their brackets of winners and losers for this season's American Idol show. They'll even be giving away some prizes, including a 40" Sony LCD TV, an iPod Touch(R), an iPod Nano(R) and a cash prize based on a percentage revenues generated from Google ads on the site. There is no fee to enter MyIdolPicks bracket contest.

"We've tried to create something similar to the March Madness brackets, but based it on the greatest reality show in the history of television," said Remos Lenio, who worked with his wife, Julie, and their former neighbors, Judy and Tom Grothause, to create the contest and site. "We hope that people around the country will join us in the fun of picking the next American Idol, both through the website and by voting during the show."

The site is live, and visitors can register at any time. Once the final 12 are selected next Thursday, March 5, contestants can begin selecting their brackets. There is also a forum on the site, where people can chat about the show, the Idol contestants and their picks. Visitors to the site can also purchase music by former American Idol contestants through an affiliate relationship with Amazon.com(R), the online retailer of books and music.
