Hollywood Shows its 'American Identity' With an Event Supporting the Families of Fallen Soldiers and an Evening of Tribute to Our Nation's Military

LOS ANGELES, March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- On March 25th, 2009, Hollywood joins Washington for an evening to honor the men and women of the United States military, and the families who support them, Lightning Pictures announced today. The evening will feature a special message from The President of the United States, Barack Obama.

During their time in the White House, the President and First Lady have sought to bring attention to the tremendous contributions and sacrifices made by members of the Unites States military and their families. As the President said of our troops during his inaugural address, "We honor them not only because they are guardians of our liberty, but because they embody the spirit of service; a willingness to find meaning in something greater than themselves. And yet, at this moment--a moment that will define a generation--it is precisely this spirit that must inhabit us all." We thank you and all those involved in the "American Identity" event for upholding this spirit through your efforts.

The evening surrounds the premiere of the feature/short film, "American Identity," and serves to benefit the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund (CFSRF). Arrivals begin at 7PM at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences.

Special mention will be made of national Congressional Medal of Honor day, the same day of the event. Medal of Honor recipients will be in attendance.

Red carpet arrivals will be greeted by uniformed military members. Expected guests include a substantial list of celebrity attendees, as well as other members of the Entertainment Industry. Other expected invitees include political dignitaries, members of Congress, senior members of various branches of the United States Armed Forces, Pentagon personnel, members of the USO, uniformed military, wounded veterans and family members who have suffered the loss of a loved one.

"American Identity" follows the lives of two soldiers, best friends, who are sent to Afghanistan following the attacks of September 11th and portrays the impact on their families as those events unfold. While the film serves as a highlight of the event, it is the message of the incredible service and dedication provided by our nation's military that will be the true star of the evening. Along with the USO and CFSRF, the event aims to bring awareness and assistance to all of the families, especially the children, who have sacrificed so much.

On the day of the event, a flag will be flown over the United States Capitol Building proclaiming it national "American Identity Day." This flag honors those that have given their lives in service to our country, and serves as a symbol of our government's commitment to help the families of these brave Americans.
