CMC Ready to Help Meet the Nation's Ambitious Challenge for Energy Efficiency
BETHESDA, Md., March 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CMC Energy Service's resident energy efficiency expert, Steve Luxton, will appear on ABC's Good Morning America Weekend this Sunday morning, March 8, to reveal which of two families is the winner in the program's home energy Frugal Family Challenge. Luxton is serving as the arbiter in the program's February contest, which challenged two families in Smyrna, Delaware to compete to see which one could cut their home energy bills more.
Following Luxton's recommendations on the Home Tune-uP(R) audit report, both families worked exceptionally hard to cut their energy bills, achieving an average 30 percent energy savings. "They far exceeded what we anticipated," said Luxton. "Historically, we see 10 to 20 percent savings due to changes in behavioral patterns." Luxton compared the families' combined electric and gas utility bills for the competition period January 25th to February 25th with the previous month's bills.
Luxton will also tip off Good Morning America Weekend's viewers about the number one thing every family can do to lower their utility bills; dispel common myths about saving energy; and provide advice on effective ways to cut back on energy bills.

"The best kept secret in the green energy field is that you don't need to spend money up front to make your home more energy efficient," says Doris Ikle, President of CMC. The company's award-winning audit software, Home Energy Tune-uP(R), is the tool needed to persuade homeowners to invest in energy efficiency improvements. The software goes one step beyond identifying costs, energy savings and payback years -- Home Tune-uP(R) also identifies the unique group of improvements in each home that will save more on monthly energy bills than they cost in finance charges. CMC has trained over 2,000 energy auditors nationwide, and is ready to work with states, local governments and utilities to train the personnel needed to meet the stimulus package's ambitious goals.
