Seattle Native Composer's Work Wins Grammy Award
SEATTLE, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Seattle native composer Mateo Messina's work from the Academy-award winning movie Juno has recently won a Grammy award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. The team of talented artists responsible for this popular soundtrack was honored February 8 in Los Angeles.
Mateo has composed music for film and television ranging from movies such as Juno and Thank You for Smoking to television projects for NBC's The Office, Nike, Microsoft, MTV, and Victoria's Secret. In addition, Messina writes and produces an annual concert benefiting uncompensated care at Seattle Children's Hospital. This unique concert intrigues and entertains audiences with unique visuals, gripping music, and inspired performances by well-known artists in the entertainment industry. Past featured guests have included Alice in Chains, Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart, and Eisley.
Mateo will put his award-winning talents to work for the 2009 concert which will be held at Benaroya Hall on November 6, 2009 entitled "Symphony of the Superhero."
Originally from West Seattle, Mateo Messina currently resides in Hollywood. Although Mateo's music career has taken him to California, he continues to play music for the children at Seattle Children's during his monthly visits to his hometown.
