Reel Journalism With Nick Clooney Features 'Citizen Kane' Feb. 23 With Panelists Tom Shales and Frank Mankiewicz
WHAT: "Citizen Kane" will be the third film featured in the Reel Journalism film series, sponsored by the Newseum and American University's School of Communication. Loosely based on the life of newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst, Orson Welles's 1941 classic is hailed as one of the greatest films ever made. Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post television and film critic Tom Shales and Frank Mankiewicz, son of Herman Mankiewicz, winner of an Academy Award for writing the "Citizen Kane" screenplay, share their thoughts on the film's legacy.

Reel Journalism is presented by the Newseum and American University's School of Communication as part of an effort to use films about journalism to encourage discussion about the critical role and responsibilities of a free press in a democratic society.
