Real-time 2D and 3D NeXgen graphics launched by KTVK, KOMO and WTVD
CHICAGO, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- NAVTEQ, a leading global provider of digital map data for location-based solutions and vehicle navigation, announced today the launch of NAVTEQ Traffic(TM) 2D and 3D NeXgen(TM) graphics by three major market television stations for use in real-time traffic news reports.
Newly launched station customers are: -- KTVK TV 3 broadcasting in the Phoenix, AZ market. KTVK is owned by Belo Corporation. -- KOMO TV 4 broadcasting in the Seattle, WA market. KOMO is owned by Fisher Communications, Inc. -- WTVD TV 11 broadcasting in the Raleigh-Durham, NC market. WTVD is owned by the ABC Television Network.
The NeXgen graphics system is customized to meet the branding and design needs of each station and is continuously updated by NAVTEQ Traffic real-time data. The newly launched stations feature exciting visual sequences such as animated 2D traffic flow maps, 3D cityscape flythroughs as well as travel time graphics in their traffic reports.
In use by nearly 70 television stations across the United States, the NAVTEQ patented NeXgen system is recognized as the current television industry standard in robust traffic visualization, offering television stations the following features:
