October Films and Nobel Media Announce First Commission of Nobel Documentary

STOCKHOLM, November 26/PRNewswire/ -- October Films has received its first commission from Nobel Media AB, the company responsible for producing the official Nobel TV programmes. October Films is to produce a 1 x 30 minute documentary portraying the 2008 Nobel Laureate in Literature, Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio (title TBC), the cross cultural citizen and writer.

The documentary will explore the career of Le Clezio, who has published more than thirty-six books, including short stories, novels, essays, prefaces and reviews and is the author of several children's books. Using interviews with Le Clezio and his academic peers, the programme will discuss the various themes his work explores as well as offer an insight into the views of his literary world and the significance of his work. The documentary will be distributed internationally by November 30, 2008.

Every year since 1901 the Nobel Prize has been awarded for achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and peace. The Nobel Prize in Literature has celebrated the works of authors from many different languages and cultural backgrounds, from William Butler Yeats (1923), Ernest Hemingway (1954), Gabriel Garcia Marquez (1982) and Orhan Pamuk (2006).

The documentary is commissioned by Tamzen Isacsson, Head of Production and Distribution at Nobel Media and executive produced by Denman Rooke for October films. The documentary will be distributed internationally by Nobel Media.
