New Romance Novel -- Every Day a Bird Learns How to Fly
MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md., Nov. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Innocence and adultery clash in a sleepy small respectable Maryland town in 1958. A lady's 57 Ford, a mysterious gold chain, a young attractive stepmother, and a secluded cabin set the stage.
1958 was an eventful year in America. The United States spread its wings in space and launched two Explorer satellites; Congress formally created the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA); and Elvis Presley was inducted into the Army.
But 1958 was not a particularly eventful year in the life of Jimmy Trenton at all. Everything seemed to be taking its normal course. His senior year in high school had just begun, planning for college was at hand, a pretty classmate was taking notice of him, and his best-friend Jason was now spending time with a girl whom Jimmy did not particularly like.
No, 1958 was not particularly eventful for Jimmy, that is, until a familiar '57 Ford Fairlane drove up beside him after school one day when he was alone.
The driver of the Fairlane made Jimmy nervous. The driver also made Jimmy catch his breath. She was a young woman with beautiful green eyes who dressed elegantly, smelled wonderfully, and wore around her neck a chain of hearts that disappeared oh so mysteriously into her blouse.
She was also Jason's young stepmother, Carol Dulaney. In the next few months Jimmy would see Jason less and less; Carol more and more.
Midwest Book Review gives it 5 out of 5 stars and writes:
"The stepmother of one's best friend in high school -- there doesn't seem too much potential for romance. 'Every Day a Bird Learns How to Fly' is a classic love story... Jimmy is fresh out of high school and Carol is older and the mother of his friend. For 1958 in a small community... it's not the most kosher thing socially. Jimmy and Carol are stuck in a conflict of love and respect, and have no idea which will win out. 'Every Day a Bird Learns How to Fly' is a fine addition to any romance shelf and for anyone who wants a controversial love story."
