Help for Stutterers on 'The Doctors' TV Show Presented by Power Stuttering Center Founder Mark Power

Help for Stutterers on 'The Doctors' TV Show Presented by Power Stuttering Center Founder Mark Power

MISSION VIEJO, Calif., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- On September 29, 2008, viewers tuning in to the new CBS daytime show "The Doctors" (http://www.thedoctorstv.com/) will find hope for stuttering. That day, the Dr. Phil McGraw-produced show will feature Mark Power, M.A., CCC-SP, founder of Power Stuttering Center (http://www.powerstuttering.com/), and one of his clients whose stuttering was eliminated by the SpeechEasy(R) Stuttering Device.

Power, a Board-recognized stuttering specialist, overcame his own stuttering and, for the past 25 years, has dedicated his life to helping others who stutter. And during his appearance on "The Doctors," viewers will have a chance to see how lives are being changed by the latest stuttering treatment options.

Producers of "The Doctors" asked Power to appear on the show as an expert in treating stuttering and to explain how the SpeechEasy helped his client. The smallest, most advanced new device available for the treatment of stuttering, the SpeechEasy is small enough to fit completely in the user's ear canal -- yet thanks to its advanced microprocessor, the SpeechEasy is as powerful as a full-sized computer.

The SpeechEasy uses that power to provide delayed auditory feedback (DAF) and frequency altered feedback (FAF), both based on the choral effect, a natural phenomenon that dramatically reduces or eliminates stuttering when people who stutter speak or sing in unison with others. Each SpeechEasy is customized for the wearer's specific needs and challenges.

The SpeechEasy will be provided in addition to the Power Stuttering Center's five-day Intensive Therapy Program -- a structured, two-hour-a-day program for adults and children as young as ten years old.

"I am excited to share with viewers how we are now combining technology, intensive stuttering therapy and medical treatments to bring stutterers a quality of life they may not have had before," Power explained. "It was an honor to be featured on 'The Doctors' alongside Dr. Gerald Maguire, and I am hopeful that the show will help us get the word out that stuttering needn't be a lifelong struggle."
