Network unveils new strategy to drive business opportunities for advertisers, affiliates and talent
DALLAS, Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Jim Robinson, President of ABC Radio Networks, announced today that he has promoted Carl Anderson to the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Programming and Distribution. In this role, Anderson will be the network's top programming strategist leading all content development and distribution for the company. He will report directly to Robinson. The appointment coincides with the merging of the Programming and Affiliate Relations departments for the network, part of an overall company strategy to unify the two functions in an effort to more quickly develop products and bring them to market.
"To remain successful in the current environment, we must be willing to take innovative steps and look for different solutions to the challenges facing network radio," said Robinson. "The pairing of our programming and affiliate relations functions reflects our commitment in this area. This allows us to drive our content with increased focus and speed while maximizing opportunities for both advertisers and affiliates in an extremely demanding marketplace. I have complete confidence in Carl to lead this new division. His experience and keen understanding of our industry have made him a truly valued leader within our organization."
Anderson joined ABC Radio Networks in 2006 as Vice President of Music Programming where he supervised the operations of nine 24-hour formats, eight format-specific production libraries and several major radio brands. He came to the network following a successful four-year run as Program Director for WJZW in Washington, DC. Previously, he worked in Chicago where he was honored as Music Director of the Year by Radio & Records for his efforts at WNUA, which also included serving as the station's Assistant Program Director. Prior roles for Anderson included radio positions in Richmond and his home town of Pittsburgh.
"I'm grateful for this opportunity and look forward to advancing our position in network radio," said Anderson. "We are focusing our resources on products with the greatest opportunities for return. To be successful, we must ensure our pipeline is full of new products geared toward serving our advertisers, including more offerings focused on the 18-49 demographic. Our overall goal remains to grow our business through calculated, managed risk and always deliver the audiences our partners are trying to reach."
