Foo Fighters and ZZ Top Co-Headline Revved-Up Concert for the 25th Anniversary LOVE RIDE

Foo Fighters and ZZ Top Co-Headline Revved-Up Concert for the 25th Anniversary LOVE RIDE

TAKING PLACE OCTOBER 26TH, WITH JAY LENO RETURNING AS GRAND MARSHALL, LOVE RIDE 25 IS NOW THE CENTERPIECE OF CALIFORNIA BIKE WEEK, THE STATE'S PREMIERE MOTORCYCLE EVENT

GLENDALE, Calif., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The world famous LOVE RIDE, the largest 1-day motorcycle fundraising event, and featured event of California Bike Week, will be bigger and more spectacular than ever this year as it celebrates the Silver Anniversary LOVE RIDE 25, slated for Sunday, October 26, 2008. The ride is always capped with a star-studded concert, which this year kicks things into the highest possible gear with a bill co-headlined by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers ZZ Top and alt-rock icons Foo Fighters, 2007 GRAMMY(R) winners for Best Rock Album. The concert, expected to draw a capacity crowd at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA, will include a barbecue lunch, motorcycle trade show and vendor village, stunts, award ceremonies and more.

LOVE RIDE Founder & Chairman Oliver Shokouh, owner of Harley-Davidson(R) of Glendale, says, "We couldn't be more excited about the generosity shown by the Foo Fighters and ZZ Top in agreeing to co-headline LOVE RIDE 25. It truly makes our Silver Anniversary something special. With the help of our volunteers and these great bands, we're hoping to make this LOVE RIDE our biggest fundraiser ever."

Also adding superstar wattage to LOVE RIDE 25 is Jay Leno, who's served as Grand Marshall since the inception of the ride. Once again, he'll preside this year as approximately 25,000 bikers from around the world -- including a host of celebrity riders -- convene in Glendale, CA for the benefit, which has raised over $20 million for various charities throughout the years. In keeping with tradition, rider registration will begin at 6AM at Harley-Davidson(R) of Glendale (3717 San Fernando Rd., Glendale, 91204) with riders starting their engines at 9AM and parading up Glendale's main drag, Brand Boulevard, before making their way over to Pomona, where Fairplex gates are scheduled to open at 10AM.

Shokouh, inducted into the prestigious Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame in South Dakota in honor of his remarkable accomplishments with the LOVE RIDE, launched the event in 1984 as a means to raise much needed funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The annual event now channels funds to a diverse array of non-profit organizations, mostly local Southern California and children's charities. With everything planned for this year, LOVE RIDE 25 is poised to break all previous giving records.

He says, "More than anything, we see LOVE RIDE 25 as the beginning of the next twenty-five years, not as a cap to what's behind us. We're committed to sustaining this long into the future, and to taking full advantage of the extraordinary opportunity we have to help as many people as possible who are less fortunate. I couldn't be more grateful to the amazing people who are making this year's event so special."

LOVE RIDE 25 is the centerpiece of California Bike Week (CBW), the state's premiere motorcycle event, taking place Oct. 24-26 at Fairplex Pomona. CBW highlights also include music from The Blasters and Lee Rocker, hot rods and tattoos on 10/24 plus world-class flat track racing with the Pacific Coast Nationals on 10/25, motorcycle stunt shows, motorcycle rides in custom show, free demo rides by major motorcycle manufacturers, the Wall of Death and more. Other weekend events include a LOVE RIDE reception party on 10/24 at Los Angeles' Petersen Automotive Museum featuring a special preview of the Bonham & Butterfield's motorcycle auction the next day (Oct. 25).
