Maureen McCormick, 'Marcia Brady' from the iconic television show 'The Brady Bunch' and star of CMT's 'Outsider's Inn,' helps Children International in Zambia.
LOS ANGELES, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Soon after landing in Zambia, Maureen McCormick knew there was something about Mary, a 14 year-old girl she now supports through Children International, a U.S.-based humanitarian organization. Mary's parents died three years ago from AIDS, leaving her to raise her four younger brothers and sisters.

Mary works odd jobs to put food on the table, while her little sister, Manase, cares for their younger brother.
"Can you imagine a 7 year-old girl that has to be a mother to her little brother. That's beyond my comprehension," said McCormick.
Access Hollywood will air a story on Maureen McCormick's visit to Zambia on
July 1, 2008. Check your local television listing for your local channel and
airtime.
Even though McCormick has witnessed the deplorable poverty children in Zambia endure every day, she has hope for their future. She sees the opportunity that one-to-one sponsorship affords a child ... a chance for a brighter future.
"I was hoping that my world would change. My vision, my eyes would see things differently. I definitely think that since I have been there, that's happening," said McCormick.
James R. Cook, president and CEO of Children International, says, "We appreciate Maureen McCormick helping us raise awareness about the plight of poor children around the world. She has witnessed how one person can change the world for one poor child through Children International."
