Benefit by Audio - A Genre Hopping Mini-Music-Fest in Aid of Camden's Homeless

LONDON, July 24/PRNewswire/ --

- Camden Calling Presents Benefit by Audio, The Forum, Kentish Town, NW5, 7pm till Late, 08.08.08; GBP12.50.

- Line-up: The Thirst + The Penny Black Remedy + Bugz in the Attic DJ Set + Motiv + Brixton Hillbillies + Redtrack + New Adventures + Laurent + T-Breakz

The Forum in Kentish Town will play host to Benefit by Audio, a music event organised by the homeless charity Camden Calling. The aim of the charity is to help homeless people gain access to the arts. Through this event they are aiming to raise GBP20,000 for instruments, recording equipment, computers, cameras, books, trips to theatres and galleries and an exhibition of homeless art.

Camden Calling is the brainchild of Alexis Brooks. She has been working with Camden's homeless for the last 4 years. Alexis, 30, says, "I wanted to prove that Camden's homeless should not be assumed to be useless. And I got to thinking about what Camden is famous for, and that's live music. It made sense to bring the two things together and the result is our first major event, Benefit by Audio - a music festival, in Camden, organised by homeless people."

Benefit by Audio is an event with a twist as it is not just in aid of the homeless, it's partly run by homeless people too. The event photographer, one of the DJs, the flyer designer and members of the promotions team are all homeless.

The event promises a mixture of up-and-coming acts including:

-Electrifying indie-rock from The Thirst (the first signing to Ronnie Wood's Wooden Records)

- Punk and ska with a hint of country from The Penny Black Remedy (winners of the Indy's Best Alternative Act 2008),

- Tunes to throw shapes to from Bugz in the Attic

- Jazz from Motiv of the Another World Music Collective

- Plus London's premiere homeless DJ, T- Breakz.
