As part of the launch event next Monday, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, Indiana Pacers co-owner Herb Simon and Emmis CEO Jeff Smulyan will hold a news conference at 11:30 a.m. on the south side of Monument Circle to discuss the initiative and to announce initial financial contributions to the effort.
This is the first time these two storied franchises have worked together to help the community, and sets a national standard for cooperation among major league sports teams.
Members from both teams will be in attendance at the massive launch in the southwest quadrant of Monument Circle Monday, June 23 from noon - 2 p.m. This family-style event will include a free lunch (while supplies last); bounce houses; games; a chance to meet members of the Indiana Pacemates, Boomer, the Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders and Blue; and the opportunity to make your "Suiting UP for School" donation in person.
The campaign will culminate at HANK's ADVANTAGE Health SkyConcert, scheduled for Saturday, August 30 at White River State Park. All funds collected will be distributed to the Shepherd Community Center and their partners: the IPS Education Foundation, Gleaner's Food Bank and the United Way's Backpack Attack program.
