Governor Signs Competitive Cable and Video Services Act

Consumers will see better prices and service

NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- TV4US Director Scott Greenberger released the following statement after Governor Phil Bredesen signed into law the Competitive Cable and Video Services Act.

"After near unanimous support in the Tennessee State Senate and House, Governor Bredesen signed the Competitive Cable and Video Services Act into law yesterday.

"On behalf of approximately 72,000 Tennessee consumers who stood with TV4US in support of cable competition, we applaud the Tennessee Legislature and Governor Bredesen for putting an end to cable's long-held monopoly and bringing greater choice, better prices and better service to Tennessee consumers.

"This is a victory for all of our supporters in Tennessee who called, e-mailed and sent postcards to their elected officials demanding a choice in their cable service provider.

"We especially thank House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh for bringing all parties together to pass a compromise bill that will ensure real cable competition and choice in Tennessee.

"With competition in sight, we look forward to better cable rates, better service, and innovative technology from new providers who will be rushing to invest in the state and serve consumers."
