Call For Entries: 2008 Third Coast Festival / Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition
CHICAGO, May 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Third Coast International Audio Festival is now accepting entries for the 2008 Third Coast Festival / Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition.
Now in its eighth year, the Competition honors creative and compelling documentary audio work being produced worldwide in English for radio and the Internet. Audio producers, radio reporters and sound artists are invited to submit work of all lengths and styles. Submissions are judged for creativity, innovation, story strength, production values and editorial integrity.
Winning works are selected in the following categories: -- Best Documentary: Outstanding stories that encompass all styles and topics, and range from 2 to 60 minutes (5 awards total) -- Radio Impact: A work that has greatly impacted an individual, group or community -- Best New Artist: A producer who shows exceptional promise and who entered the field after July 2006 -- Best News Feature: (NEW!) A news story under 10 minutes that exhibits exemplary reporting and use of sound -- Audio Luminary: An individual who has made significant contributions to radio
Cash prizes totaling $25,000 are awarded to the winners and their programs are featured nationally on the annual Third Coast Festival Broadcast, which is heard on more than 100 public radio stations across the U.S. each fall. Winners will also be honored at the annual 2008 Third Coast Festival Conference, October 9-11 in Chicago.
Entries must be postmarked by June 27, 2008 to meet the early deadline, and July 18, 2008 to meet the late deadline. For information and to download the entry form, visit: thirdcoastfestival.org.
