Belo Names Nicholson President and General Manager of KTVK and KASW-TV in Phoenix
DALLAS, May 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Belo Corp. (NYSE:BLC) announced today that Lawrence D. "Nick" Nicholson was named president and general manager of Belo's Phoenix properties, KTVK (IND), KASW-TV (CW), Arizona News Channel and their related Web sites. He will report to Peter Diaz, Belo's executive vice president/Television Operations.
Since March 2006, Nicholson held the position of president and general manager of WVEC-TV (ABC) in Hampton/Norfolk, Virginia. From November 2004 to March 2006, he was vice president and general manager of KMSB-TV (FOX) and KTTU-TV (UPN) in Tucson.
"Nick brings more than 22 years of leadership to his new assignment in Phoenix," said Diaz. "His recent successes in Hampton/Norfolk and Tucson combined with his strong background in sales and marketing make him a great choice to lead our Phoenix operations."
Nicholson was vice president/Sales and Marketing at WFAA-TV (ABC) in Dallas from 2001 to 2004 and the station's director of sales and marketing from 1995 to 2001. From 1991 to 1995, he worked for WESH-TV in Orlando as general sales manager. Prior to that, he served as local sales manager from 1985 to 1989 and general sales manager/program manager from 1989 to 1991 at KOTV in Tulsa.
