WEGENER Executives Selected as Featured Speakers during NAB 2008

DULUTH, Ga., April 3, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ:WGNR) , a leading provider of equipment for television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, today announced that two of its executives have been selected as feature speakers during the National Association of Broadcasters convention (NAB), starting on April 11th at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Kamy Merithew, Vice President of Marketing for WEGENER, and Gary Pelkey, WEGENER's VP System Architect, will present discussions at the World Teleport Association (WTA) Content Distribution Forum and the 62nd Annual Broadcast Engineering Conference respectively.

Pelkey will be joined by Eric Wiler, VP of Technology for Jones Radio Network, for a presentation entitled "Radio Broadcasters: Building File-Based Networks". They will examine the technology behind the next generation of satellite-delivered programming and discuss ways to provide listeners and advertisers with a sense of local presence by transitioning to file-based program delivery.

The presentation is part of the session, Radio Technology Advancements and is scheduled for Sunday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m. in the Las Vegas Convention Center Room S226/227.

As part of this year's World Teleport Association (WTA) Content Distribution Forum, Merithew will appear during a session entitled "Mastering Video Overload in the Enterprise Space." Merithew will discuss the most bandwidth-efficient methods to utilize video and generate significant revenue within enterprise networks. The session will also discuss available options and offer successful examples of integrating video into data-centric enterprise networks and developing applications that manage potential overload and maximize profitability.

The session is scheduled to take place on April 15th at 2:45 p.m. in the Central Hall of the Convention Center, Booth #C7248.

WEGENER will also exhibit at the NAB convention. Located in the South Hall Upper, Booth #SU7911, WEGENER will show COMPEL-enabled media distribution solutions for broadcast, radio, retail, cable, terrestrial, digital signage and multi-client environments. Demonstrations will emphasize bandwidth efficient technologies, such as: file-based broadcasts, MPEG-4 video compression, network control and DVB-S2 modulation.

Additionally, this year at NAB, WEGENER will introduce two products, (1) the newest addition to its store-forward media server product line, the iPump(R) 562 Media Server for retailers, enterprises and other private networks and (2) WEGENER's new 4th generation control system, COMPEL(R) II.

The iPump 562 media server expands WEGENER's integrated approach of file- based workflows and live video reception/playout to both high definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) video channels, while supporting bandwidth-saving MPEG-4 (h.264) video decompression and DVB-S2 demodulation. Compel II network control system combines all the power of WEGENER's prior control systems with new additions such as a web browser based user interface and an upgraded database to ease interactions with third party applications such as traffic and billing systems.
