WASHINGTON, April 3, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Food Network Stars Duff Goldman and Sandra Lee joined forces with Mall of America on March 30 to host a Share Our Strength Great American Bake Sale(R). Share Our Strength(R) is a national organization working to end childhood hunger in America.

Mall of America's Great American Bake Sale featured more than 20,000 cupcakes, brownies and cookies from Food Networks stars Nigella Lawson, Paula Deen, Ellie Krieger, Robin Miller, Ingrid Hoffman, and Pat and Gina Neely. The International Culinary School at The Art Institutes Minnesota baked all the items from Food Networks stars.

Goldman, star of Food Network's Ace of Cakes, presented his cupcake to Guinness Book of World Records representative Danny Girton Jr., who promptly declared it "the world's largest." The entirely edible cupcake weighed an astounding 61.4 pounds, stood 12 inches in height and amassed to 150 times the size of a regular cupcake.

"The frosting on the cupcake alone was 16 pounds of butter, 10 pounds of sugar and 3 ounces of food coloring," said Goldman.

Together, Goldman and Lee, star of Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee, met and greeted their mass of fans at the event. Both Food Network stars are the spokespersons for Share Our Strength's Great American Bake Sale, presented by Domino Sugar(R) and C&H Sugar(R), a national campaign that mobilizes Americans to end childhood hunger by holding bake sales in their communities. Since 2003, more than a million people have participated in the Great American Bake Sale, raising nearly $4 million to fight hunger in communities across America.

Mall of America's Great American Bake Sale raised more than $10,000; proceeds from the event will be granted back to local organizations in Minnesota fighting childhood hunger.
