EcoMedia Partners National Advertising Dollars and Local Businesses to Fund Environmental Programs Across the Country

EcoMedia Partners National Advertising Dollars and Local Businesses to Fund Environmental Programs Across the Country

Office Depot, JetBlue, Nestle Waters, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Philips and local business leaders are among many who use media to help clean the environment through EcoZone Programs

MIAMI, April 2, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Mayor Manny Diaz, along with almost two dozen EcoZone Program sponsors, unveiled several environmental projects for City Hall, including the installation of a state-of-the-art solar panel system and an interior energy-saving lighting retrofit. This comes just two weeks after a similar initiative was unveiled in Long Beach, California. All of the funding for Miami's EcoZone Program comes from the growing corporate investment in green advertising through EcoMedia, a leading environmental media company.

Through the sale of advertising and sponsorship packages on media properties like the company's nationally syndicated television show, "The EcoZone Project", highly visible signage in major cities all around the country, the newly announced EcoZone/Kimco (NYSE:KIM) Retail Marketing Program as well as digital media, print initiatives and radio, EcoMedia invests up to half the media dollars generated into real environmental projects. EcoZone Sponsors are able to accomplish their marketing objectives while making an immediate and positive environmental impact in local communities where their customers live, work, and play.

"As agencies and their clients continue to find more efficient and effective ways to communicate their value proposition to consumers, EcoMedia offers a unique return-on-investment through its public-private partnership," said Paul Polizzotto, Founder and CEO of EcoMedia. "Anyone can claim to be green, but this is 'green media' that actually greens. We leverage ad dollars from National, Regional and Local brands to actually clean the environment in cities across the country."

Last month, EcoMedia announced a content development partnership with Worldwide Pants Incorporated (WPI), the Emmy Award-winning production company created by David Letterman. The Worldwide Pants/EcoMedia collaboration, which begins production in the fall of 2008, will generate original, unscripted, environment-related content, in the style of The Late Show remote segments, for television and Internet distribution.

In just four years, Miami's EcoZone program has accomplished several environmental initiatives such as the City Hall Energy Efficiency Project, the installation of filters into storm drains to protect rivers lakes and streams, the funding of Miami "Green Lab" and the Miami BayWash Program. Next month, Ecozone will continue investing in environmental programs such as the upcoming Miami Tree Canopy Initiative.

"With cities around the nation facing tougher economic times than ever, it is critical that Mayors do not compromise on our responsibilities to the environment," said Miami Mayor Manny Diaz. "This Public-Private Partnership to green City Hall demonstrates our City's commitment to making a measurable impact on the environment, all at no cost to Miami taxpayers."

The solar panel system in Miami today is the latest example of an EcoZone environmental project. Just two weeks ago, a similar solar panel unveiling at Long Beach Airport in Southern California was made possible through the program's sponsors including Jet Blue, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and SoCal Edison.

"When EcoMedia approached us with this opportunity, we felt that it was not only a great mission, but as a major stakeholder in Long Beach, we wanted to support it any way we could," said Jace Hieda, Marketing Manager, Northwest, JetBlue Airways.

The Long Beach solar panel system is expected to reduce carbon emissions by a half-million pounds over the life of the system.

About EcoMedia and EcoZone

EcoMedia is the world's premier environmental media company, dedicated to pioneering marketing and media programs which help companies connect to consumers while generating necessary resources to address critical environmental challenges. EcoMedia and its flagship EcoZone Program were founded in 2002 with the mission to create solutions for environmental problems with all partners involved -- business, government, environmental advocates and the community. The company utilizes its traditional media offerings such as television, radio, out-of-home, online, interactive and event marketing to help corporations build their business. In turn, revenues are generated and used to make a positive environmental difference in the communities in which these companies and their employees live, work and do business.

Up to fifty percent of EcoMedia's clients' investment goes towards funding environmental projects and technologies in 15 of America's leading cities, such as installing solar panels on top of City Hall in Miami and at Long Beach Airport, and supporting the Mather Wetland Enhancement Project in Sacramento County. Many companies claim to be "green", but the companies that work with EcoMedia and the EcoZone Program are actually making a positive impact on the environment.

Recently, EcoMedia announced an expansion of the EcoZone program with Kimco Realty Corp. (NYSE:KIM) and content development deal with Worldwide Pants Inc., the Emmy award winning production company created by David Letterman. Recent EcoZone sponsors include Office Depot (NYSE:ODP) , JetBlue (NASDAQ:JBLU) , Nestle Waters, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Southern California Edison, a subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE:EIX) and Philips Lighting, a division of Philips Global (NYSE:PHG) .
